Community of Therapists Event - Theme: Running a small business

Come join our 7th community event at a long lunch table at a cafe in Amsterdam. This free is our first midday event - nourishing and much needed.

Event theme: Running a psychotherapy practice as a healthy business

  • Whether you plan to launch one, run a small one or already have one scaled up

  • Touching on both boring & exciting topics - tell us what “fills your sails” (what excites you) and where you procrastinate

  • Grazing over accounting, invoicing, dossier keeping, branding, marketing, networking, KVK (chamber of commerce), transplanting from abroad or other city to Amsterdam, protection of data, liability insurance

  • Bring your your questions, failed attempts and gold nugget solutions

What you can expect

  • The organiser will invite to the event and facilitate the conversion - welcoming new members, kicking off, and time keeping

  • You will meet new and old peers, walk away with valuable learnings and a sense of belonging to a community.

About these Community of Therapists Event

The idea for this recurring event is to start building a small, yet possibly growing supportive community of mental health providers that can often find themselves in quite solitary settings (the only provider in room, odd hours with office mates, primarily digital trainings or email exchange) - emerging or navigating a pandemic.

The format is typically simply meet & greet, share your ideas, solutions and challenges, and learn from one another. While at a past meeting, we may have focused on ONE topic, for now, we will let the conversation free flow.

This even is inspired, by a San Diego-based group of mental health providers called "Therapists That W(h)ine together" - and I still think fondly of that North Star of community.

How to Join

This event is closed, by invite-only, yet we are open to suggestions.

Community of Therapists Event - Invite Only

Come join our 6th community event at a looong table in a restaurant in Amsterdam. This is a free event.

This will be our first sponsored event - a mental health design company Maind from Finland will present their app and cover our drinks. Woot!

Get excited for a 15-minute presentation by Alban via zoom and a Q&A on how to use an emotion journaling tool in your practice.

Maind app allows your clients to

  • Log emotions, physical symptoms, and write a shareable journal

  • View progress through summaries and connect that data with their therapist to work on wellbeing together

  • It is always secure, free to download & free for clients to use - for therapists 3.50€ each month per active client

Design Therapy Session : #4 Getting Unstuck

Design Therapy Session : #4 Getting Unstuck

Join a Design Therapy online session on “Getting Unstuck”. It is a body exercise of design coaching for mental, relational and systemic wellbeing.

Even though it will begin with a video call via zoom on a computer or smart device screen, you will soon be asked to literally step back and fill the screen with your entire body to be seen by the other participants in this small-scale group. As a group, you will go one by one, each of you moving into a physical position of being stuck. It’s body work - minimal words and narration.

You will then use the reaction and feedback of the group members to build on the first position and moving beyond the stuckness.

All in all, this session will cascade, moving through 2-3 stages and guide you to a surprising state that shows the impact of your community.

This session on “Getting Unstuck” with design doing was developed in a Design Therapy approach session in 2020 facilitated by Julika Lomas, founder of Pixel Story Studio (Systemic Design Services) and builder of Design Therapy dot org and the exercise was led by Emilia Pucci, Experience Designer at Freshform in San Diego. Both Julika and Emilia are designers in residence at the UC San Diego Design Lab and share several points of connection. This exercise is inspire by body storming in service design and social presensing theatre - you may think of other names. It is inspired by creative ways of integrating the body and holistic self in an experience meant to further self development.

Design Therapy is an approach nestled between coaching and psychotherapy, for individuals, couples and groups in the interspaces of work and home life.

Design Therapy is a design service and experience that evolved in many spaces - in the heads of unsatisfied psychologists who wanted more creativity in their work and in the notebooks of design practitioners who wanted more feely psychology in their work.

It is not one person’s feat, yet rather an approach that springs from a collectively growing community of designers and systemic therapists.

Join us for a 4th YAY-Monday session of “Design Therapy”. It is an online experience of design doing! Tried & tested in 2020, we will
